MobileDemand Ships Flybook
BIOS Magazine has the news on the shipping of the Flybook, a touch screen micro laptop.
The Flybook is touted as being the lightest laptop around. The sub-compact system (1.2kg) is also convertible for tablet mobility, and includes a 1GHz processor with up to 512MB RAM, integrated wireless communications, and built-in expansion slots.
The system integrates a 8.9-inch touch-screen display (1024×600 pixels), which can be twisted and flipped in order to allow use in either a laptop or tablet manner. However, the system comes pre-installed with Windows XP Home edition rather than Windows Tablet PC edition, which is an odd choice given the inclusion of a touchscreen.
Other technical specifications include a 1GHz Transmeta Crusoe chip from, 512MB memory, a low-power Radeon Mobility graphics engine from ATI with support for DirectX 9.0 and a 40GB hard disk drive.
