Asus W5F Review

Asus W5FLaptop Magazine recently reviewed the Asus W5F, a compact machine with a webcam and many other reasonable features.

If you crave the multitasking power of a dual-core processor but want to travel light, Asus has your notebook. This 3.8-pound ultraportable delivers fast performance and looks good doing it with an attractive white-and-gray color scheme. Throw in multimedia amenities like a 1.3-megapixel webcam, a DVD burner, and a 4-in-1 memory card slot, and there’s a lot to like for $1,499.

The W5F’s gorgeous 12.1-inch, high-resolution screen makes photos, Web pages, and even program icons look especially sharp and colorful. DVD playback was crisp, but unfortunately, the screen had to be positioned at an exact 90-degree angle to maintain the best visuals; tilting it forward a hair washed out the colors, while tilting it back had the reverse effect.

Some of the things they liked included its fast performance, webcam and microphone, an excellent screen, and the textured touchpad. Some of the negatives they listed were the lack of a PC Card slot and limited tech support hours. In the end they gave the Asus W5F a four out of five, as well as an Editor’s Choice badge.
