Sony UX280P: Twice the Ram and HD
While the UX280P is not really a laptop, it is a UMPC that has a QWERTY keyboard integrated, making it worth talking about in my book. The UX180P was recently pulled from Sony’s online store, and at the time they claimed it was due to stock shortages, but then Sony put up the UX280P to replace it. A machine with twice the RAM and hard drive space when compared to the UX180P it is replacing.
Along with the now 40GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM, the machine got some software upgrades that will hopefully help this device be more pervasive in the marketplace. The CPU inside the UX280P is still the Intel Core Solo U1200, and it still has its EDGE, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, but with the bigger hard drive and more RAM, there also came a price bump. The Sony UX280P now comes to a rather high $2000 USD mark. I say get a full sized laptop and a decent PDA for that kind of money.
