HP Pavilion dv4000

HP Pavilion dv4000With a host of multimedia options and a midrange price, the HP Pavilion dv4000 is great for users who want to play music and video on their notebook.

The dv4000 is heavy at 6.6 lbs but comes with a bigger 15.4-inch widescreen display.

The system includes QuickPlay, a useful feature that offers instant access to DVDs and music without having to power up the system. Two multimedia keys located under the screen, one for DVDs and the other for audio CDs, are used to launch QuickPlay.

The new upgrades include the fastest Pentium M on the market, the 2.13 GHz Pentium M 770. Yielding only 2 hours 28 minutes it is suggested that buyers get the 95-Wh 12-cell battery for an extra $25.

The dv4000 comes with a FireWire port and four USB ports. The built-in 6-in-1 card reader accepts all major Flash media formats. For backup and burning, the DVD±RW is also a LightScribe drive, which uses HP’s printing technology to etch images and patterns onto discs when you burn to them.

So it looks like you have a pretty powerful machine, though I would not want to stray too far from a power outlet with its small battery life. I would hate to see what would have happened if they put a full Pentium 4 in the laptop.
