Toshiba Debuts Laptop With HD DVD-ROM
Very interesting news as the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD war begins, it looks like Toshiba has released some details on their first HD-DVD drive in a new system called the G30.
The drive will be front opening and take 30GB media, which will be good for full length feature films in high definition. And since high definition gives us the “wow” feeling when everything else comes together, the G30 is rich in multimedia technology.

TrustedReviews with the details:
The SRS Audio Enhancement System with SRS WOW HD and SRS TruSound XT technology also help create virtual surround sound, while Dolby Home Theatre supports headphone, 2.1 and 5.1 speaker systems.
Just as impressive is the display potential of the G30 with its ‘TruBrite’ 17in screen that runs a native 1920 x 1200 resolution (enough for 1080p signals) and the nVidia GeForce 7600 graphics card with 256MB VRAM for fast video reproduction and running the latest 3D games.
Even away from this multimedia heaven, the remainder of the notebook is equally well featured. There’s a dual core T2500 (2GHz) CPU, 1GB DDR2 (expandable to a massive 4GB), 2x 120GB HDDs with RAID capabilities, an HDMI out port, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, 6-in-1 card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, S-Video and it comes with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 preinstalled.
No release date was given for this machine, but I don’t think you will be going too far with it, as I have a feeling the price, battery life, and weight are going to make this machine desk bound.
