NEC Japan’s Twenty-Six New Laptops
Good thing I don’t have to post each new model seperately, or I would probably die on my keyboard. NEC has releases a whole whack of new notebooks with all kinds of model names that don’t really help you in purchasing the right product for you, unless you have the secret decoder ring to figure out what they all mean.
The LaVie L series consists of eight new models which have names like LL990/FD, LL900/FD, LL790/FD, LL770/FG and so on. They have either a 1.60GHz Intel Celeron M, 1.73GHz Intel Pentium M, AMD Mobile Sempron 3100, or AMD Turion 64 Mobile processor. Hard drives range from 80GB to 160GB, while RAM ranges from 256MB to 1GB. All of the video in these machines will be powered via integrated graphics cards, so gamers…look elsewhere.
Then there is the LaVie T series with its 1.6GHz Celeron M (LT900/FD) or 1.73GHz Pentium M (LT700/FD) models which come with a 100GB or 160GB hard drive. Both come standard with with 512MB of RAM which is upgradable to 2GB.
Then there is the LaVie A, the LA500/FD, which is all by itself using a slower 1GHz Celeron M processor, an 80GB hard drive, and 512MB of RAM, but it claims upwards of five hours of battery life is its saving grace.
All of the new machines should be available by the end of the month in Japan only. Sorry if I had you all baited and ready to buy one.
