Biometric security is hot right now with various personal devices, what with HP iPAQs now incorporating the same technology. A slew of security features should help to ensure that data on the Tecra S3 is protected when it’s stolen or lost, making it virtually impossible to retrieve data without the right credentials.
The Tecra S3 (338×280x29.7mm, 2.85kg) also happens to be the first model to include a comprehensive collection of Toshiba’s EasyGuard technology, which comprises four aspects: Secure, Protect & Fix, Connect and Optimize.
In addition, the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is an embedded security chipset that stores an authorised user’s credentials, while a biometric fingerprint reader you to swipe you finger across the laptop instead of typing in a password. Another level of security is enforced by the HDLock, which combines a USB A-Key along with a personal password that acts as the key to the laptop.
